How to play Brave Souls
Character Growth
Character Growth
There are a number of ways to improve your characters.
Leveling Up | Characters gain experience and level up by completing quests. Every time a character levels up, their base stats improve. You can also level up your characters by using EXP Crystals. |
Strengthening | You can improve various things, such as a character's stats or Soul Trait, by strengthening Souls on the Soul Tree. |
Ascension | A character's maximum level and Special Move level can both be increased. |
Character Link | Placing another character in a character's link slot imparts the first character's Soul Trait to the base character. |
Awakening | Most fully-powered up ★5 characters can be Awakened to ★6. See here for more details on Awakening ★5 characters. |
Unlocking Skills | ★6 characters have special Souls on their Soul Trees which give them new skills and abilities when unlocked. See here for more details on ★6 characters' Soul Trees. |
Resurrection | Some ★6 characters can be Resurrected to create a new, more powerful ★6 character of the same version. See here for more details on Resurrecting ★6 characters. |
Inheritance | By powering up a ★6 character's Character Link Slots and then putting certain other characters in those Character Link Slots, the base character can Inherit some of the linked characters' stats. See here for more details on Inheritance. |
Transcendence | Depending on a ★6 character's Special Move level, the character can increase their base stats even further. See here for more details on Transcendence. |
Character Level Indicators
A character's level indicator changes depending on how far the character has been powered up.
A white indicator shows that the character's Soul Tree completion percentage is below 100%. | |
A green indicator shows that the character's Soul Tree completion percentage is 100% or above. | |
A red indicator shows that all the character's Character Link slots are at level 30. (The character must also have a 100% or higher Soul Tree.) | |
A purple indicator shows that all of a character's Transcendence Basic Stat Boosts are at level 10. (A character must also have a 100% or higher Soul Tree and three level 30 Character Link slots.) For the level indicator to turn purple, the character must have a stat boost set in each Basic Stat Boost slot and must also have an Extra Stat Boost. |
|
If the total value of all link slot levels is 29 or less, each link slot level is displayed as a number. (The indicator switches between the character's level and a flashing icon.) | |
If the total value of all link slot levels is between 30 and 59, each link slot level is displayed as a red number with a frame. (The indicator switches between the character's level and a flashing icon.) | |
If the total value of all link slot levels is 60, each link slot level is displayed as a red number with a frame. (The indicator switches between the character's level and a flashing icon.) |
Strengthening
Use Crystals and Coins to strengthen Souls on a character's Soul Tree to make them stronger.
1. Soul Tree
Each character has a unique Soul Tree. On the Soul Tree you can choose which things you want to improve, and strengthen the character by using Coins and power-up materials. Each Soul improves a certain aspect of the character, and requires a set amount of specific power-up materials to strengthen. Tap and hold on a Soul to check the amount and kind of power-up materials necessary to unlock that Soul. You can also tap on a specific power-up material to see a list quests where that item can be acquired and then transition there.
Souls have a number of levels. When the Soul reaches maximum level, more Souls may be unlocked.
Souls come in the following types:
Stamina Soul | Raises the character's Stamina. Requires Stamina Crystals and Coins to strengthen. | |
Attack Soul | Raises the character's Attack. Requires Attack Crystals and Coins to strengthen. | |
Defense Soul | Raises the character's Defense. Requires Defense Crystals and Coins to strengthen. | |
Focus Soul | Raises the character's Focus. Requires Focus Crystals and Coins to strengthen. | |
Spiritual Pressure Soul | Raises the character's Spiritual Pressure. Requires Spiritual Pressure Crystals and Coins to strengthen. | |
Special Soul | Raises the character's Soul Trait. Raising the level of a Special Soul makes the character's Soul Trait stronger, and also improves the effect of Character Links. | |
Slot Soul | Increases the number of link slots the character has. | |
Leveling Soul | Unique to ★5 and ★6 characters. Once the character has reached maximum Ascension level, a Leveling Soul can increase the character's maximum level even further. | |
Skill Soul | Souls only available to ★6 characters that unlock special abilities. | |
Soul Trait Soul | These Souls are unique to Resurrected ★6 characters. Unlocking a Soul Trait Soul gives the character a new Soul Trait. |
2. Multi-Power Up
You can use any available Coins and power-up materials to unlock multiple Souls on a Soul Tree simultaneously.
3. Leveling Up
You can increase a character's level by using a special Crystal called an EXP Crystal. Crystals come in the following varieties:
Small | Medium | Large | |
---|---|---|---|
Stamina Crystal | |||
Attack Crystal | |||
Defense Crystal | |||
Focus Crystal | |||
Spiritual Pressure Crystal | |||
EXP Crystal |
Ascension
Fuse characters together to increase the base character's maximum level.
1. Base Character
The base character is the character that will be improved during Ascension.
2. Special Move Level
You can increase a character's Special Move level by Fusing them with an identical character, using a Special Move Source, or collecting Special Move Points.
- Characters are considered to be identical if they have the same name, Attribute, and thumbnail image.
- Identical characters can be used irrespective of whether the character has been Awakened or Resurrected.
- Even if a character's Ascension level is at maximum, they can still increase their Special Move Level.
- A Special Move icon denotes a character that can have the level of their Special Move increased.
- Special Move levels stay the same through Ascension and Resurrection.
- ★6 characters that have been Awakened or Resurrected can have the level of their Special Move increased on their un-Awakened, un-Resurrected ★5 version.
- If an identical character is used for Ascension, no Transcendence Points will be awarded.
- The character will not gain any EXP if you use a Special Move Source.
2-1. Special Move Points
Special Move Points can be acquired by Resurrected characters with a Special Move level of 4 or less by clearing the Special Move Training Grounds.
Once a certain amount of Special Move Points have been collected, a character's Special Move Level can be increased.
Special Move Points can only be acquired from the Special Move Training Grounds.
Please be aware that only two levels' worth of Special Move Points can be acquired from the Special Move Training Grounds.
3. Required EXP
This is the amount of EXP required to reach the next Ascension level. When this gauge reaches max, the character will Ascend to the next level.
4. Source Character
Select fodder characters for Ascending the base character. Rarer fodder characters give more EXP to the base character and earn you more Transcendence Points when used for Ascension. Also, choosing a character with the same name as the base character gives even more EXP. Fodder characters are consumed by the Ascension process and will disappear from your character list.
5. Ascension Cost
Source characters and Coins are needed to perform Ascension. The amount of coins needed depends on the rarity of the base card and the number of source cards.
Character Link
1. Base Character
★3 and above characters have link slots. Only one link slot is open to begin with, but extra slots can be unlocked by leveling up Slot Souls on the Soul Tree.
2. Link Character Select
Select a character to place in the link slot. The effect of the Soul Trait of the character in the link slot will be reflected in the base character's stats. You can raise the level of a character's Soul Trait by strengthening Special Souls on the Soul Tree. You cannot place two identical characters, a character assigned to a team, or a character identical to the base character in the link slot. The character placed in the link slot will not disappear, and you can change the character at any time.
3. Saving Sets
Character Links can be saved as sets for each Attribute. When you save a Character Link set, it will be saved to the same Attribute as the base character.
4. Loading Sets
You can load a set that has been saved.
Multi-Power Up
Characters can now be strengthened through multi-power up. Select what you would like to power up and the materials required will automatically be selected and then used.
The materials to be used, as well as the details of the power-up, can be confirmed by changing the tab shown at the top of the window.
When Ascending, the character to be used will be selected after confirming the power-up.
If you would like to unlock something on the Soul Tree or power up your characters manually, tap the Soul Tree button in the top right.
