How to play Brave Souls

Arena Modes

Score Battle

In Score Battle mode, players form teams of three and then attempt to defeat enemies of various Attributes and NPC bots with the same stats as the opposing team. The team with the most points when the time expires wins.

The opposing team will face NPC bots of you and your teammates.

1. Own Team Score

The number on the left shows your team's score. Defeating the opposing team's NPC bots and other enemies increases your team's score.

2. Own Team Power Gauge

This shows your team's Power Gauge. You can increase this gauge during Score Battle mode by meeting certain requirements.

An ally's Stamina reaches zero. Your team's Power Gauge decreases.
The opposing team completes an Arena Mission. Your team's Power Gauge decreases.
An ally's NPC bot's Stamina reaches zero. Your team's Power Gauge decreases.
An ally defeats an enemy. Your team's Power Gauge recharges.

A Score Steal is triggered if a team's Power Gauge drops to zero. When a Score Steal is triggered, the team with a Power Gauge at zero loses a percentage of their score and a score equal to the reduced value is added to the opposing team's score.

3. Time

This shows the remaining time for the current match. The team with the most points when the time reaches zero wins. The remaining time can be extended by triggering a Score Steal when there are 15 seconds or less left on the clock. The amount of time added decreases with every subsequent Score Steal.

4. Opposing Team Score

This shows the opposing team's score. The opposing team can increase their score by defeating your team's NPC bots and other enemies.

5. Opposing Team Power Gauge

This shows the opposing team's Power Gauge. The opposing team can increase this gauge during Score Battle mode by meeting certain requirements.

An opponent's Stamina reaches zero. The opposing team's Power Gauge decreases.
An opponent's NPC bot's Stamina reaches zero. The opposing team's Power Gauge decreases.
Your team completes an Arena Mission. The opposing team's Power Gauge decreases.
An opponent defeats an enemy. The opposing team's Power Gauge recharges.

6. NPC Bots

NPCs are bots with the same stats as the opposing team's characters. As with player-controlled characters, bots' strong attacks grant them a few frames of invincibility and their normal attack strings have a brief cooldown period before they can be used again.

When a bot's Stamina reaches zero, it will respawn with increased stats. The higher a bot's stats, the greater the reduction to a team's Power Gauge when the bot's Stamina is reduced to zero. There are five levels of stats increase. A bot with a stats increase will have a number next to their name indicating their current stats increase level.

7. Arena Missions

Arena Missions are selected at random for each match. Completing an Arena Mission before your opponent will cause a significant reduction to the opposing team's Power Gauge.

8. Power-Up Items

Defeated enemies and breakable objects may sometimes drop power-up items that grant a boost to the player that finds them.

Each power-up item increases the character's stats by 30%. Any power-up item effects are lost if a character's Stamina is reduced to zero.

9. Log

The log contains a record of significant events during the match, such as a character being reduced to zero Stamina or a Score Steal being triggered.

Actions by each team are displayed in a different color.

Character Stats By Mode

Character stats are adjusted as follows for different modes.

Score Calculation

You can see each player's score for a Score Battle match on the Results screen. Each player's score is calculated based on how many enemy mobs and NPC bots they defeated, plus one third of any total score stolen from the opposing team as the result of the player's team triggering a Score Steal. Any amount stolen by the opposing team as the result of the opposing team triggering a Score Steal is then deducted from the final total.
